We've had the privilege of speaking with Managing Director Jamie Kierath, who, alongside his father and Hoselink Founder, Tim, has been instrumental in bringing this project to life. The Evolve™ Retractable Hose Reel is an Australian-designed and built hose reel created by Hoselink right here in Sydney, Australia. Born out of a four-year journey of research and development, this hose reel was designed and manufactured from the ground up to redefine the industry. By pushing the boundaries of what's possible, we've created a product that not only meets but aims to surpass the highest consumer standards."
Evolve™ is not only the culmination of Hoselink's time, effort, and dedication but also an industry-leading watering experience. It is available in charcoal or beige colourways in 20- or 30-metre lengths, so there's something to suit every home and style!
More improvements worth noting are the Precision Layering System (PLS), (which we will discuss in detail later), the new sleek design, with fewer screw holes and built-in ergonomic carry handles that are moulded to the casing, so the reel is still manoeuvrable while maintaining a streamlined look.

What's the difference in Evolve™?
To completely understand this question, we sat down with Hoselink's in-house Product Manager, Matt, to get his take on the Evolve™ Retractable Hose Reel. With over five years if experience at Hoselink, Matt joined the Evolve™ project as it was entering the crucial testing phase. His invaluable expertise and meticulous attention to detail have played a pivotal role in ensuring that Evolve™ met our stringent quality standards.
According to Matt, the Precision Layering System (PLS) is one of the best features of the Evolve™ Reel. This feature was designed in the early stages of the project and has been tested rigorously (over 10,000 times) to ensure perfect relayering of the hose with every use. While the automatic hose retraction and stop-anywhere features you know and love remain, but the braking system has been refined along with our tough-as-nails internal spring to make watering even more effortless and enjoyable.
Another feature Matt points out is the new internal and external safeguarding features designed to withstand frost, perfect for anyone who lives in a cold climate. The business also invested in a state-of-the-art UV testing machine to ensure the sun protection features on Evolve met the highest standards. We’ve spent a great deal of time ensuring that every piece of Evolve™, big or small, would exceed all expectations.
So, why should people consider switching from Classic to Evolve™? The Classic Reel, if you weren't already aware, is Hoselink's Original Retractable Hose Reel. Why did we make the Evolve™ Retractable Hose Reel?
Evolve™ has been Hoselink's most important project since its humble beginnings in 1999.
‘Bringing production back to Australia has been a goal of ours for a long time; we really hope our customers appreciate that. It's been a bigger job than we ever could have anticipated,’ says Jamie Kierath, Managing Director of Hoselink.
Jamie and his father, Tim, the founder of Hoselink, set out to create a new industry-leading product that would be manufactured here in Australia way back in 2020. With over 25 years of expertise in the industry, it is fair to say they know a lot about hoses and reels and had a good foundation for their innovative new hose reel idea! Beyond product excellence, Jamie and Tim sought to bring manufacturing back to Australia and reduce the constraints of overseas production. Hoselink has been in a unique but very privileged position to have a direct line of communication with our customers to understand precisely what they want and what they want to see improved: ‘Quality, functionality and a leading customer experience have been the priority from the beginning,’ says Jamie.
When asked about the most challenging part, Jamie says this project hasn't been without its hurdles: ‘That's what made seeing the final CAD designs, the tooling and first samples off the production line some of the highlights over the last four years,’ says Jamie.
While Jamie acknowledges that four years is a long time and a lot longer than they originally intended for it to take, he is ultimately very happy with this: ‘It meant we ended up with the best possible product for the customer,’ he says.
